No Bake Birthday Treat

This week is my Grandma Lyke's 97th birthday!  Every year is a gift and I surely recognize and appreciate the gifts she gave to me.  She taught me to cook, sew, play piano, canoe, hike, take care of chickens, read, love family history, gardening, how to make the best grilled cheese sandwiches, how to make jam....honestly the list could go on and on.

Grandpa and Grandma Lyke

One of the treats that she taught me how to make was No-Bake Cookies.  I must have made them twice a week forever!  On Saturday Gracie, my granddaughter, came to me and wanted to make cookies.  So we got out my Grandma's recipe and made her cookies with a little twist.

We added Nutella which is Gracie's favorite.  It was magic....so good and a great Saturday treat to share with our family.  The kids loved seeing her recipe card and hearing a few cute stories.  It was our way of wishing her a happy birthday!

No Bake Nutella Cookies

In a large sauce pan mix 2 1/2 cups of white sugar, 6 Tbs of cocoa, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 stick of butter and 3/4 cup of Nutella.

Bring to a boil for 2 minutes and add 3 1/2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal and 2  teaspoons of vanilla. Mix together and drop by large spoonfuls onto wax paper. Eat when cool and firm!

Happy  97th Birthday Grandma Lyke!  We hope you have a wonderful week celebrating your life.  You have been a gift to all of us!  Hugs and loves.....

All Joy,

Abby

  1. Those are my favorite cookies. They obviously taste even better when wearing a princess outfit. Cute!
